GOGOLFEST.BABYLON is proud to present the "P.S.S" program, within the experimental music project "Supremus", many times member of the GOGOLFEST. This year they prepared a special and somewhat unusual even for them program, "P.S.S" ( "Parum, sed Supremus” – “Small, but Significant”) with a minimal number of musicians – from one to three. The name is also justified by the musical language of the program, because of the laconic and restrained yet meaningful and emotional means of expression.
It’s a project of a string quartet “Гольфстрім” (Gulf Stream). The idea of the concert – is a revaluation of quartet music traditions, cooperation of musicians in one complement with the other one in an unusual way and, in addition to that, involvement of other “characters” into the quartet. For example, in Zoltan Almashi’s composition “Zhebye” string instruments are joined by frogs’ and nature sounds. Is there a mutual understanding among that choir of the most diverse voices? Or everything will happen as in Babylon Tower, where every participant of polyphony is lonely and no one is understood. Or is it “I understand the nature’s voice but I do not understand my “fellow man”, a colleague in the string quartet?”
The project of the ensemble “Sed Contra Ensemble" is an exploration of the sound space created by an unusual composition and the ratio of instruments, the combination of their voices and stylistic synthesis. This contrast is the interaction of different traditions of composition and style spaces. The impact of each of the traditions in the context of the new acoustic space of the GOGOLFEST-2016 festival must create a specific synergy that will felt by the audience.
Amadeus Mozart created a lot of music apart from "Requiem", "Little night serenades" and "Turkish March” – perhaps it’s time to start listening? To 260 anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart birthday, famous Ukrainian musicians Kyrylo Sharapov (violin) and Natalya Fomenko (harpsichord) have created a program from pieces created by the composer when he was young but almost unheard, unseen in the repertoire of performers.
Faingersh tell Shakespeare’s most famous tale with a trombone and an orchestra. Soloist Faingersh ‘acts’ out the play on stage and interacts with both the musicians and the audience, translating the drama of the work into a musical dialogue with his co-performers.
