All the films presented on the festival are silent – they don’t need translation:

The Festival «Open night» is one of the smallest in the world: it lasts only one short summer night. It traditionally takes place in the fall of June in open air on observation ground of chronicle mount Uzdykhalnytsa near Richard’s Castle on Andriivskyi descent in Kiev. During the night the audience watches about 30-35 short films (and also fragments of full length films). Winners are announced with first rays of sun.
The idea of the festival belongs to the cinema director Mykhaylo Illienko, its founder and present art director.
