«Chzhuan Chzhou has dreamt and saw himself a butterfly carelessly fluttering from flower to flower. When he woke up for a long time he couldn’t understand is he Chzhou that has dreamt that he is careless butterfly or is he a butterfly that has dreamt that it is Chzhou».
(Dao De Dzin).

What is past, what is future and what is present? What is good and what is bad? What is truth and what is lie? Is consciousness of a man one moment or eternity in a flow of time? Where a border of dream and what is is reality then? Spectators answer these questions by themselves since author acknowledges that there is no absolute answer and searches for his personal answer. This acknowledgement is a beginning of the way that leads to realization of love, beauty, happiness, freedom – all that what fills the time between birth and death.

Consciousness of personages of the play travels free in different time dimensions. With a help of concrete examples the audience gets a possibility to understand that Destiny is just a row of events that are placed in strict chronologic succession and have a beginning and the end and that death is a birth and life is movement that changes from one matter to another.

In the end of the play the author very carefully, by half hints, shares with audience his assumption that the goal of life is an aspiration to realization of eternal matters and eternal is only “Love”.

For all that, the play is very funny and is filled with refined humor thanks to which Georgiy Deliev has defined a genre of the play as surrealistic comedy.
