LaboraTory is founded in 2002 by director Boris
Yukhananov and Grigoryi Zeltzer and is the unique art community. Main
activity of LaboraTory is theatre that is based on Jewish sacred books:
Torah, Talmud, Tanakh which are used not like additional dramaturgic
material but like integral sacral texts. By its creativity theatre
tries to create original comment, way of interpretation of these texts
in a live dialogue between the participants of community.
Play “Golem” suggested by LaboraTORY is staged on a
base of piece of the same name by G. Leivik who, in his turn, takes as
a basis for the piece a plot of one of Jewish myths about creating of a
man from clay. The play contains improvisational element due to which
duration of the play is defined by actors themselves: two tens of
Golems independently create spontaneous existence in open theatrical
process.
