I don't pretend to be a
"curator", hence at the moment I'm not a specialist in contemporary
visual art. In this project I'm interested first of all in the approach
to art as an element of stage design or space design, the idea of
arranging an exhibition space like stenography - when a picture becomes
a part of the interactive outside surroundings that create a
self-sufficient artistic image.
When does the distance between the spectator and the object of art
disappear? At what moment does the inside of the exposition go beyond
the limits of the museum space and a journey or immersion takes place?
This is why it is very hard to find an adequate reflection of the
exposition on the pages of a booklet. It exists only as a very concrete
physical space. Live Money - Dead Souls. Play on words, play on senses,
play on metaphors... Gogol-contemporary art... live money... At first,
we thought to hang the pictures on iron hooks and have them to move
slowly in a circle in the huge space of '"Arsenal" like
hanged bodies, but then this image was born - pictures that grow from
the ground, pictures that rise above the earth. 180x60 is a special
size - the average size of a human body-Raw earth... Death and
Immortality. Death and Resurrection.
"Live Money - Dead Souls" is the 13th project of "The Cartel".
