Ensemble of Dmitriy Pokrovskiy was created in 1973 in Moscow and for 23 years was headed by one of the best Russian folklorists Dmitriy Pokrovskiy (1944 - 1996) – the outstanding musician, scientist-researcher, the laureate of State USSR prize, who really succeeded to unite basic studying of folklore with its professional performance and traditions of folk music with modern music culture.

The ensemble performs not only folklore but also classics and works of modern composers by realizing joint projects with collectives of the most different directions and styles (Ensemble of soloists «OPUS POSTH»; Cuban kozaks’ choir; Paul Winter and Paul Winter Consort; Thomas Ades, Piter Donkhou, (Birmingham Symphonic Orchestra); N. Jozhukhar and ensemble of soloists «The Pocket Symphony»; А. Аigi and ensemble «4:33».

Thanks to Y. Lyubimov’s support the ensemble is Creative Studio of Theatre on Taganka since 1998. During these years the collective was touring in Japan, USA, England, Austria, Germany, Finland, Israel, Spain and Italy performing on world best academic stages and stirring up a live interest of the audience.

Saint-Nikolai Choir of Tretyakovskaya gallery exists on principles of high level of professionalism that is based on conservatory education of the singers. They thoroughly know theological tradition and are masters of rare manner of performance that comes from as far back as Moscow synod school. Founder and conductor of the choir is Honored artist of Russia Alexei Puzakov who in his creativity tries to keep and to continue traditions of Russian sacred music. The choir actively tours in Russia and abroad.

”Terrible Vengeance” – music action to music by Anton Viskov written specially for D. Pokrovskyi ensemble and Saint-Nikolai Choir of Tretyakovskaya gallery (headed by A. Puzakov). The music is written to libretto of Viskovatyi that was created for Rimskyi- Korsakov who had no time to realize the plan of writing the opera. It happened so that this Gogol`s story actually did not have any stgy embodiement and "Terrible Vengeance" to music by A.Viskov has never been performed yet.
