nternational festival of ethnic music and land art
«Sheshory» will take place on July 12th
–14th, 2008 in Vinnitza
area (village Vorobiivka, Nemyrivskyi region).
Traditionally the festival presents ethnic music of different styles
and genres – from archaic folklore to its modern
interpretations, art objects in surrounding environment and master
classes in art crafts. Among
the most important aims of the festival is keeping of Ukrainian
national traditions, learning a culture of other nations and upbringing
of solicitous attitude towards environment.
During five years on the stage of festival were performing collectives from Ukraine, Poland, Czechia, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia, Byelorussia, Estonia, Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria and Sweeden. Headliners of this year on main stage will become Ghymes(Hungary-Slovakia), and Transglobal Underground (Great Britain-France). Unfailing participants of «Sheshory» stay «Perkalaba» and «DakhaBrakha».
On presentation of the festival that will take place on May 21st in «Art Arsenal» a concert of«DakhaBrakha» will take place (art head –Vladyslav Troitskyi) – ethno-chaos band that during of four years time of its existence has performed with concerts and plays (in the frames of “Mystic Ukraine” project of “DAKH” theatre) on numerous world stages in Great Britain, Germany, Hungary, Georgia, Poland and Russia. “DakhaBrakha” breaks down all stereotypes of “nonformat” – creating on the basis of authentic folk Ukrainian, Russian and Bulgarian songs they boldly intersperse them with rhythms and melodies of other music directions. Theme of this year festival «Sheshory’2008 - Podilski» is polyphony.
